a thankful pastor

I can't believe it's been a full month since I added my random thoughts here, and for you regular readers (both of you) I promise to do better....

Mainly what's on my mind today is how thankful I am to serve such a responsive congregation. Having heard 'horror stories' from other pastors through the years (and having lived a few myself), it's just an incredibly good feeling to know that people are connecting with our weekend services and in particular our current emphasis on leaving a spiritual legacy with the next generation. The summertime attendance for this series, as well as over 60 new volunteers to serve our kids and over $5,000 given for youth retreat scholarships and about 90 copies of Battle Cry for a Generation having beeen sold in the last 3 weeks tells me that CLCers are getting the message and that we're stepping up to the plate.

I'm also thankful for such a capable team to serve with. Pastor Dan has done such a great job of inspiring the response listed above, and both he and Pastor Michele will help us conclude the series this weekend with practical steps that every parent can take. It's such a neat experience for my wife and me to sit back and put others up front and know that they're capable and anointed, the congregation is receiving, and we're all serving together. If you haven't taken time to thank Dan or Michele or Brandy (who created that terrific slideshow of our kids and volunteers last week) or Jeff (who leads all the behind-the-scenes media work) or even my lovely wife, Chris (who made such an anointed appeal last weekend) - maybe this would be a good time to drop an email or express your appreciation to any of the wonderful volunteers who serve us all each week and who make CLC the kind of family it is!

I'm looking forward to the difference I believe we'll make in the next generation because of your response. Don't forget to register for any of the upcoming special events and classes designed to HELP us in leaving that legacy. See you this weekend!
