praying our prophecies

Heard a great quote from my pastor, Bishop Joseph Garlington, today at the True Life Ministries Conference in Racine, WI:

"Prophecy is a spiritual insight that strategically positions you for a future moment of success, if you obey it"

Not only did that reasonate with me when I heard him say it, but I'm convinced that one of the keys to our GO! campaign at CLC is for us to take hold of the prophetic words we've received and 'remind' the Lord of His promises to us. I'll have more to say about that this weekend.

Read this and tell me: are you paying attention to unfulfilled prophecies in your life? Leave a comment for us as to what and how you are using those prophetic words in your personal prayer times - it will encourage and help all of us who are reading.

I can remember several prophecies over the South Bend church thru the years that have all spoken of great things that are going to happen through the people and church in South Bend. I pray that this is the moment that they will be fulfilled!!

I'll join you, Gary. In fact, if you have transcripts or recordings of any of those prophetic words, we'd love to add them to the collection that we're praying for here. Let me know.

I try to make it a point to re-read the prophetic words spoken over my life especially in difficult times, but I've never made it a point to pray them. Today I'm going to start. The following is from a prophecy bulletin and indeed seems like a timely word.

The Trumpet by Bill Burns -- October 1, 2007: Stir up the gift that I have deposited in your heart. Stir up the proceeding words that I have spoken to you, for surely they shall come to pass. Stir up the embers and cause the flames to come forth. I say, that you are a people of understanding, a people who have wisdom. Now it is time to do the work and stir up the impartation that you have received and bring it to the forefront of your lives. Cause it to be a bright and burning flame that will light the path that you walk on. Remember the days of old when you were a mighty warrior. Remember those days and stir up again the shout of victory. Open the Book of Remembrance that you have written and recount the exploits that I have involved you in. Remember the prayers that I have answered! Remember all that I have saved you from and the times when I watched over you when no one else would. Remember My touch. Remember that our hearts are joined together, and the two shall never be separated. Remember most of all, My children, that I love you with a love that is beyond human understanding or human compassion. I will never leave you nor forsake you. I will be with you always, even to the very end of the age. Do not forget My presence, says the Lord.

What a great definition Bishop Garlington gives! I was immediately drawn to the words strategically positions and obey. Often we think when we hear a word from God that there is nothing required of us, He has spoken—it is done. However, we must obey! He, through his whispers and sometimes booming voice, directs us giving us the coordinates necessary to make it to the destination He speaks of.

Thanks for pointing to that scripture. I have been hearing clearly from the Lord regarding others, and I just need to be steadfast in prayer that His words bear fruit in the lives they have been planted. Through prayer we nourish (water) the seeds (prophetic words) He plants in us. This really does help to me to focus my prayers and to be attentive to His voice so I can be obedient!
