Weekend reflections
I'm tired....but it's definitely a good tired. All 3 services in Tinley this weekend were energetic in worship, with a tangible anointing on each one. And I preached harder (read that: louder) than I have in a while. I couldn't help myself - the passage in Joshua 3 really exploded in me this whole week.
In case you missed it, let me summarize: the story of the priests bearing the Ark of the Covenant and stepping into the Jordan River is one I've heard since my Sunday School days. However, I always thought the water stopped at the point where the priests entered the river, as soon as their feet touched it. Instead (as you can see if you read the text), the waters were cut off about 30 miles upstream! Since the speed of water flowing in a river varies between 1-4 mph, those priests must have stood in the river for somewhere between 7-24 hours --- and all that time, it appeared that nothing was happening and they were just looking foolish.
So the next time you do something the Lord told you to do and it seems like nothing is happening - don't doubt and don't be discouraged. Just keep standing in the river by faith, knowing that God has already done His part, and eventually the water will get to where you're standing!
That was fun preaching!

You were on fire yesterday. I had an awesome time learning about the ways of God. Thank you for being my Pastor!!!
P.S. I don't mean to be anonymous but this is the only way I know how to post. :O)

I just want to thank you Pastor J for such an on-time word from God. I sometimes get caught up and want to rush things along. This weeks message really helped draw me back into focus and remember to wait for God, He'll do just what he said!
There is really only one word for yesterday service -- WOW. It reminded me of the word that Bishop Tudor spoke about breaking the sound barrier. I think, no, I know, that God needed us to break through and break into some things in 9:00 service and that bang in service was that barrier being broken!!! What an awesome, awesome word that followed praise and worship Pastor. Never, ever had I heard that scripture broken down in detail like that before. The illustration of Moses striking the rock and the relation of the rock and Jesus was amazing! What a great time to be part of the move of God at CLC!!!

Thanks, Nana & Pat & whoever you are. I just had a phone call from Dave & Angie Gonzales who told me they cried all the way home yesterday, knowing that God IS doing what He said He'd do for them; He's just doing it 'upstream' & they haven't seen the results yet!
I'm so pumped about the WORD & about this church - I'm telling you we're about to GO places we've never gone before!
Thank you for your word on Sunday with the upstream - holding onto that Ark of the Covenant. I feel like I have been standing in the same spot for more than two years with no word from God. I keep asking Him if it is something I have done, or shouldhave done or just some plain ol sin that I have not repented of. I am learning that He is really stretching my faith - and am counting on the overflow of His wonderful and awesome & incredible abundance that He has promised. I will keep waiting and praising Him. He is worthy!
