don't dare miss this

Just a quick shout out about this Tuesday & Wednesday, September 11-12, when Bishop Joseph Garlington will be our guest at CLC. If you've never heard Bishop, you simply MUST come, and if you have heard him before, I know you already WANT to come!

Both services will begin at 7pm rather than our normal 7:30, so he has plenty of time to minister and we still won't be too late on a school night. Can't wait to see you there!

It was the most fun I'd had in church since...well, the night before! Glad you enjoyed it too, Dawn.

As to the blessing of tithing - I don't think you need to be troubled by it at all. There's NO question that God promises to bless us when we tithe by putting Him first in our finances; i.e., giving Him the FIRST tenth of our income. What Bishop referred to is that there are verses, such as the passage with Jacob and his father-in-law, Laban, that indicate God's blessing comes on others because of us. Several of the Old Testament promises regarding the blessing on the tithe had to do with the land - so it only goes to reason that ownership is important, and I've said publicly that one of my goals for CLC is 100% home ownership in the congregation - but by no means does that negate the blessing of the Lord upon tithing.

I would encourage you to consider buying your own place as soon as it's possible (and you desire it), but don't for a moment think that God isn't honoring your financial investment in His kingdom in the meantime.
