I'm a blessed man, part 2

Today gave me more than one reason to reflect on my blessings: I'm also blessed because of this. After almost 35 years of sharing life together, I can testify: I've got a good wife, and because of that, I'm blessed.

I was especially blessed today when she called Eddie Smith, who was just here this weekend to teach a seminar for aspiring writers. Eddie has been involved in publishing for many years, and is the author of several best-selling books (some as a ghostwriter for others; some in his own name). After the seminar he took copies of Chris' next manuscript as well as her Heart to Heart curriculum for women and promised to give her honest feedback. (She was pretty nervous about making the call).

After he reviewed her material, he told her that the content was "brilliant" and informed her that once she takes care of some suggested details, that he personally wants to approach the publishers to help her get the book done!

He also had some incredible ideas to help her fulfill the dream of getting the material to other churches, so that women around the world can receive the benefit of what God has taught her through the years!

So I'm feeling extra-blessed tonight - I've known for years that she's a brilliant and gifted woman of God, and I'm excited about this next season of ministry for her!

How 'bout you? Have you ever been even happier for someone you love than for your own accomplishments? (Surely some of you parents can relate to your kid's soccer feats or scholastic attainments) Any husbands feeling especially blessed by your spouse? Any wife wanna boast of your man of God? Let me hear from you, so our joy can be multiplied.

Oh Yea! I'll boast about my Man of God. He is a ministry gift to me and truly loves & serves God! He married me with four children. He has been an outstanding father, mentor and influence in their lives. It definitely has not been easy on him but Dave is truly a servant. I serve him, he serves me. Nothing in the household gets neglected and nothing in our service to God, (these days) gets overwhelming! We just do things together. Housework, shopping, laundry, etc. If I can't get to it, he does, etc. etc. etc.! If he can't get to it, I do! He fills our home with glorious piano praise & worship which ushers in the presence of God and then gives more of his time to contibuting to the work of the Lord where I serve. I am sooo blessed and grateful! Dave has a very humble spirit, (which seems to keep be balanced!) but the fire of the Holy Spirit simmers inside until it is time to turn up the heat and breath life into someone. I appreciate His passion for the Lord and for others. I thank God for this man.

Terrific, Julie (and DAVE!) See - I am blessed just reading your comments. Anyone else out there? Have you ever felt blessed because of someone God placed in your life - maybe even more when they're blessed than when you are? Tell us about it.....

nchapman: Oh, I definitely want to boast about my husband. Larry and I met at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana and fell in love. Once I graduated in December 1993, we were married January 15th, 1994. Sometimes you wonder if you married the right person. In the beginning, love is blind. But, through the years, God and Larry have shown me what a great man my husband really is. Larry was a great boyfriend, but he’s an even better husband and father. I feel blessed to have such a hard-working, devoted husband. I’ve been a SAHM for over ten years, taking care of our four beautiful children. While I’ve worked at home, Larry has worked 2-3 jobs at a time. He even went to Kuwait for a little over six months in 2003. Larry loves the Lord and he enjoys praising and worshipping him on the piano. And just when I didn’t think my husband could get any better, he joined Shorewood’s Men’s Fraternity. I don’t know what they’re spiritually feeding him at these mtgs., but he’s even more fired up for God. I love the man I live with and I thank God for giving him to me.
