a joint-writing project?

While we were in Dallas for the Global Advance "Ambassador's Meeting", Chris and I spoke briefly to the delegates about the advantages we've experienced through 'team ministry'; i.e., working as a husband-and-wife team at CLC, since Global Advance is launching a new initiative to empower and encourage pastor's wives and women in leadership.

Afterwards, someone told Chris how encouraging our session had been and asked her if we had written or would consider writing a book on the subject. Usually, I would just laugh off that kind of comment, and especially at this season of my life when I hardly need another project. But this one kinda got my attention, and I must admit, I'm at least interested. For sure I believe the benefits of this approach far outweigh the disadvantages, which is why all of our pastors at CLC operate as husband-and-wife teams (had you noticed that?)

Whaddya think? Would you be interested or do you think the body of Christ could benefit from a book about husbands and wives pastoring or leading or serving together? Lemme know - I'm really interested in your thoughts.

Pastor Jerry I think the thought of a resource on team pastoring written by a couple that lives it daily is a God-thing! I personally know of so many churches that relegate the women to ushering, choir and the kitchen. My religious background is Baptist and there is no such thing as team pastors, not to mention women pastors. I believe this book would be another tool that God is going to use to further His kingdom through the two of you. You know that Ken and I will hold your arms up!! Pat E.

Thanks, Pat - I really am getting a sense that this is a God-thing, and for sure, I'd need a lot of prayer to fit it in my to-do list. I appreciate the prayers & the encouragement!

Pastor Jerry, I totally agree with what the first "anonymous" posted... a book about husban-wife pastors would certainly benefit the church as a whole. Some of the churches are so embedded in traditionalism that the women have no voice at all, and I believe that the Lord uses ALL of us for His purposes... as the Scripture says, "In Christ Jesus, there is neither male nor female, neither Jew nor Greek.. for we are all ONE in Christ Jesus."

Pastor Jerry,

I am not yet married, but have always felt in my heart that marriage certainly is a ministry. Afterall the word says that:

Two are better than one,
Because they have a good reward for their labor.

I support you all the way, and believe that the body of Christ is ready to hear what God has placed in your heart.

Even though I live many miles away now, it's exciting to see from a distance what God is doing at CLC. Love you Pastors, Maria Castaner
